The newly opened Police Married Quarters PMQ off Hollywood road is great. Reminds me of Covent Garden at home.
I particually loved the energetic vibe of the 10centsshop. Its so friendly and relaxed, totally different from a traditional gallery atmosphere. In October they are selling the works for 10 cents! Well its an awsome platform to get Hong Kong artists viewed by everyone. Its been a crazy week for art in Hong Kong. So many events to try and squeeze in.
Saturday my friend and I had a walk thtough the graffiti art event in Sheung Wan. I cant wait to go back this weekend and see the finished works! Who doesnt need a bag to carry a yoga mat! Start with 10 fat quarters, a long zip, lining fabric, a contrasting top thread for detail and a strap.... Cut into 3.5 inch strips Save the chubby remainder for later Sew the short send together to make a long strip. Orgainise them by colour tone Sew together creating different widths of each colour band. Use the saved ends in the opposite direction. A little topstitch detail..... It was getting late and the natural light was failing. Its just crazy how much colours change in different lights. Line, zip and add the strap....
Sorted :) So a little trip to Sri Lanka. An breathtaking destination if you avoid the busy tourist stops. I tool my knitting. While sporty husband went off to surf I got busy with the challenge. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/swallowtail-shawl Lace projects need time to count and concentrate for me. I am not an accurate knitter. I have never so far used a 'life line' on a lace project though I know its healthier than starting again. Well I am about half way done before the flight home. But there are so many rows on the needles it is taking quite a while. I am not sure there will be time to complete it.
So instead check out these beautiful perfect and finshed eaten SriLankan fruits! Time for a little something....
Scones 350g self raising flour 1tsp baking powder 85g salted butter 3 tbspn caster sugar 175ml milk I use full fat Squeeze lemon Preheat oven to 200C Mix flour and baking powder. Add a pinch of salt if you wish. Rub in butter Then stir in sugar. Warm the milk and add the squeeze of lemon once its warm on off the hob. Make a well in the flour mix and stir in the warm milk. Dust the surface with flour and pat out the dough to 4 cm thick Use a smooth edged cutter to shape your scones Glaze with milk or egg Place in oven for 10min Then have a tea party ! This is a truley lovely exhibition. The exhibits are surprising and serenely calm. The muffled industrial building work sounds actually add to the feelings of the pieces in the room.
Worth a trip before it closes 3rd May. White Cube 50 Connaught Road, Central, Hong Kong Finished at last!!!!

Next time I am short of inspiration for a project or birthday present I know what I am going to get!! Now I was super excited when I moved to Hong Kong and saw what I thought was the craziest veggie in the world. Two years on and I still love it. Its beautiful. Its like the sand dollar of the veg world.
This soup was nice and gental on the palate too so why dont you try and make it. Though in Europe the lotus root might be hard to find!! Some chicken pieces with bone better Lotust root, two big sections or 4 small. 1/4 cup coix seeds 1.5L water Simmer for 1 - 2 hours Easy peasy! Next time I may add some goji berries to add an element of sweet bitter |
