Our expectant Mommy Hen needed a little accessorising. Cant have a gathering without something to indicate the lucky lady. She's not a girlie pink girl so this shabby chic should be perfect. I do love having a quick project like this to tackle sometimes. Instant gratification when it is finished.
With bikini season just around the corner I have joines the challenge!!!
Thank you Freckled fox for the inspiration and motivation :) http://www.freckled-fox.com/?m=1 I shall blog drawings of the gym. No one wants to see sweat So creative projects have come to a halt. The appartment is flooded. So what better time to escape the damp than with a friend for gossips. Shortbread Teas (55 Wellington St, Central) have a great range of yummy things to try. Its your perfect cute UK cafe for home away from home. This cup is just waiting for my Duchess Grey tea. The cakes are especially delicious and so filling! Definately coming back soooooooon!!!
Well my Mother made a little typo. Harriet tweed instead of harris tweed. However I think this makes the cutest name for my current project and it kinda suits it too. A little patchwork in the morning is way more fun than going to the gym.
Started laying it out indoors.... But outside beckoned. Can't wait till my next day off to continue it. Who could say no to a little afternoon egg tart?
A little visit to pick up snacks for my video evening with Amanda. They also have chinese doughnut like puffs. Yum!! Its on Lyndhurst Terrace and worth the que. Quieter after 6 though. Close to my work and all the hustle and bustle of CWB there is this gem of a store.
Tailor and Alteration http://www.needleworkclub.com/index.php?charset=eng Great for quilting and Japanese craft books. Mental note really must learn Japanese one day. But they really do have abit of all sorts including felting equipment and kitting wools and needles. I am addicted! Well today on my way by I just fell in love with a pack of green quarters and some ready to go wadding. Now I shall think of green woodlands inspriation! This dress is pattern Simplicity 5698 and was found used in a charity shop in Whistable. Anyhow been waiting for the right moment to use it. It is size 14 and I had to take it in quite alot at the sides but bust was good. I am a tosphop 10-12 and m and s 8 to give you an idea! I find it amusing I picked this fabric up in the market here and its stamped with 'Made in England'. A long way to go to get 20hkd/yrd fabric!!
PMC (precious metal clay) is something I have played with before but never had any formal training with. You tube videos can get you so far but watching a tutor makes everything so much easier! Groupon came you with the PMC guild Hong Kong make a ring class. My friend and I just had to go along. http://www.pmcguild.hk/ The first step was moulding and practicing technique with a blu tak. This is a great idea for design as you get an idea of how things will look as a finished product. I will certainly do this at home before cracking out the clay! Next step is rolling the clay to a certain length then pressing a pattern sheet over it to make the design surface of the silver. Then the work gets dried and your file or smooth out the fing with clay slip. As you can see from the photo patience filling and smoothing wasnt the most exciting thing and I kinda didnt do it! The ring was fired in a kilm I think as it was done so speedy and multi rings at a time.
A quick wire brush and then burnish and it was ready to wear! I think my friend is addicted to it now too. She's been internet researching things to make already. Spring often seems to get missed here. Apart from the April showers. So I loved a walk through the flower market to see these bright and beautiful blooms.
